New parenthood can be challenging, but you don’t have to do it alone. Health First’s comprehensive childbirth education classes are designed to equip you with the knowledge and confidence you need to navigate your upcoming birth journey.

Classes are offered free of charge at each of our birthing hospital locations. Space is limited, and registration is required to attend. Each registered participant may bring one support person.

 

Childbirth Education 4-Class Series

A supportive prenatal education experience designed to help you feel informed, confident, and prepared for birth and beyond.

This 4-week in-person series meets weekly and is ideal for expectant parents who prefer a structured, week-by-week learning experience that guides you through pregnancy, labor, birth, and the early postpartum period.

What you’ll learn, week by week:

Week 1: Preparing for Birth
Understanding the final weeks of pregnancy and how your body prepares for labor.

Week 2: Labor & Comfort Techniques
Stages of labor, pain management options, and coping strategies to help you stay focused and supported.

Week 3: Birth & Newborn Care
What to expect during vaginal and cesarean birth, plus essential newborn care basics.

Week 4: Postpartum Recovery & Birth Suites Tour
Physical and emotional recovery after birth, with an optional guided tour of our Birth Suites.

 

1-Day Express Class

In just one day, Health First’s comprehensive childbirth education class is designed to equip you with the knowledge and confidence you need to navigate your upcoming birth journey. The tools and techniques taught in our class will ensure that you are well-prepared to reduce your perception of pain, decrease stress and anxiety, and increase your comfort during childbirth.

Class highlights:

  • Effective labor positions, plus coping skills & progress strategies.
  • Pain relief/medication options.
  • Medical support (interventions) when your birth plan doesn’t go as planned.
  • Breathing techniques and guided visualizations.
  • Postpartum care and recovery.
  • Birth suite tour.

Lydia is a dedicated birthing professional who draws from her years of experience and education to provide exceptional care to her clients and their partners. To better serve her clientele, Lydia stays up-to-date on practices, policies and interventions, doctors, and midwives standard of care practices, newborn and breastfeeding information, and local resources.
As a certified Doula and childbirth educator, she is passionate about educating parents on their options and empowering them to make educated decisions that are best for them and their growing family.
