Hospitalist

A hospitalist is a provider who specializes in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. Hospitalists work closely with your primary care provider and frequently inform him or her of your condition.

When you require hospitalization, your provider or an Emergency Department physician will coordinate your admission with a hospitalist. The hospitalists are on site 24 hours a day and work closely with all hospital staff to coordinate your care.

Soo Y. Nam, MD is part of our Health First hospitalist team and board-certified in Internal Medicine. Before his tenure at Health First, Dr. Nam has worked with IPC Healthcare at Florida Hospital Altamonte Springs and at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, GA. She completed her Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Roseau, Dominica and her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, where she graduated cum laude.

Dr. Nam is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine and the American Medical Association. In addition to fluent English, she is proficient in Korean.
