Neurohospitalist

A hospitalist is a provider who specializes in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. Hospitalists work closely with your primary care provider and frequently inform him or her of your condition.

When you require hospitalization, your provider or an Emergency Department physician will coordinate your admission with a hospitalist. The hospitalists are on site 24 hours a day and work closely with all hospital staff to coordinate your care.

Alok K. Sahgal, MD is part of our Health First hospitalist team, with specialization in neurology. Dr. Sahgal completed a Residency in Neurology at the Barrow’s Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. He was a Clinical Research Fellow in Ophthalmology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. He also worked at the Department of Neurology at Duke University in Durham, NC as a Clinical Research Associate.

Dr. Sahgal holds a Master in Management in Clinical Informatics from the Duke University Fuqua School of Business in Durham, NC and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, NE.

Dr. Sahgal was honored with the Housestaff Leadership Service Award from St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in 2016.
