What do you enjoy the most about your position? After completing both of my residencies with Health First, I have had multiple opportunities to further develop my skills and grow into a full-rounded pharmacist. From those experiences, I enjoy being able to work closely with residents and students, allowing them to have those unique opportunities, watching their growth throughout the year and ultimately develop into outstanding pharmacists.

What do you enjoy the most about your position? What I enjoy most about my position is being able to blend direct bedside patient care with driving evidence-based practice through hospital and system-wide policy and protocol change. This allows me to help critically ill patients on both an individual and community-wide scale.

What do you enjoy the most about your position? I am passionate about expanding access to healthcare and believe that whether it is inpatient or outpatient, pharmacy has a unique opportunity to fill some healthcare gaps within the community. I love collaborating with various types of healthcare professionals to show how pharmacists and technicians can help expand the practice of pharmacy, and work to the top of their licensure to make patient care better overall.

What do you enjoy the most about your position? Our team has a long history of preceptorship origin stories. My first APPE rotation was at Health First, which inspired me to pursue hospital pharmacy. It's rewarding to see our teaching pass success forward by our students turning into residents, residents wishing to stay at Health First to become colleagues, and then precept to give back to the profession.

What do you enjoy the most about your position? I enjoy having the ability to make an impact on a variety of different levels. My job never gets boring and is constantly rewarding. Whether the impact is direct via patient counseling or indirect via order intervention or more global via protocol development, there is always a way to make a difference in the community.

What do you enjoy the most about your position? One of my favorite aspects is my involvement with our drug diversion program. Being able to work closely with other departments to ensure medications are being used appropriately is a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. Additionally, starting as a clinical staff pharmacist before moving into a leadership role provided me with the understanding of the front-line staff, both pharmacists and technicians, allowing me to advocate for them and provide them the resources to be successful.

What do you enjoy the most about your position? Over the years I have had the opportunity to precept multiple students and residents in the clinical setting from pharmacokinetics, critical care, and infectious disease.  I truly enjoyed sharing my years of experience in these specific fields and assisting to develop great specialists who had a passion to serve our patients.  After coming to Viera Hospital 2 years ago and changing to a more operational role, I now enjoy using these past years’ experiences and working to implement them on the frontline. I have a strong passion for leading a department to the most cost-effective solution to benefit the patient.  My clinical background has offered me the ability to see both operational and clinical processes and make adjustments to help the associates at Viera Hospital gain a better understanding of the “why” behind the implementation of processes or initiatives.  I truly enjoy taking on new challenges and working through them daily with the team.

What do you enjoy the most about your position? I manage the Transitions of Care team, Coumadin Clinics, and Penicillin Allergy Skin Testing programs and also collaboration with our medical group. I have a diverse workload which keeps things exciting, and I enjoy supporting a team that helps provide the best patient care to our community.

What do you enjoy the most about your position? Being a part of advancing a resident or APPE student's knowledge and seeing how much they grow throughout rotations, educationally and professionally, is very rewarding. Hematology/ oncology can be a difficult subject to master, but there are so many ways pharmacists can be a part of educating patients, caregivers, nurses and even physicians.

What do you enjoy the most about your position? The Medication Use Process is exceptionally complex. Improving health outcomes for our patients requires not only knowledge of clinical pharmacology and pharmacokinetics but also a deep understanding of High Reliability Organization (HRO) sciences, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, accreditation preparedness, Robust Process Improvement (RPI), and familiarity with tools such as Root Cause Analysis and Action (RCA2), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Plan Do Study Act (PDSA). I enjoy helping our future pharmacy leaders understand how to apply a scientific approach to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) in these unique non-patient care rotations. For the Pharmacy Consult Service rotation I enjoy helping residents use their knowledge of pharmacokinetics to optimize drug dosing and avoid adverse drug event-related morbidity.

What do you enjoy the most about your position? As one of only three programs in Florida, the Health First VitalWatch® eICU offers a unique opportunity to simultaneously manage a high volume of critically ill patients in our six ICUs system-wide. The two-way audio/visual capabilities are phenomenal, allowing for an accurate patient assessment despite not being at the bedside. In the VitalWatch® eICU I'm able to work side-by-side with a physician and nursing team throughout the night which allows me to have an immediate impact on patient care. Additionally, the nature of the workflow allows for a lot of time to precept and have students/residents involved with direct patient care.
